St. Paul’s Audio Equipment Update …
Our audio system was last updated in 1997 and is in much need of replacement. Since announcing that we are looking to improve our sound system, I have heard many people express their desire to see improvements; but given the expected costs, we feel the proposed project warrants input from members of the congregation to ensure the Parish addresses the priority needs of St. Paul’s.
Here are some of the details about the new system:
– It will include speakers capable of clearer output directing sound where we need it and away from where we don’t. This should cut down on the echo while providing a uniform sound throughout the pews and in the choir loft.
– It will include multiple preset levels for small or large crowds, music groups, priest celebrating, etc. and these presets will be easy to use.
– Since presets are never perfect the new system will include controls that can be adjusted easily during the Mass if necessary.
– The system will be designed with the possibility of having a praise and worship band in the future including the proper inputs, monitors, and mixing capabilities required for such a group.
– We are also investigating video equipment to be installed in the church which would allow us to project onto screens lyrics for songs not in our books, Mass parts, prayers to help us prepare for Mass, events coming up in the parish, and many other things to enhance engagement with the Mass and the parish.
– We also hope to use the screens as homily helps, perhaps by placing the text of the homily to follow or images of scenes from the Gospel (think of it as a modern version of the stained glass window).
The finance committee has been reviewing options for this much needed upgrade for the Parish. Initial estimates range from $50,000-$100,000 for equipment and installation to service our future needs. The investment needed is substantial; however the finance committee has begun to allocate needed funds from the Building Campaign and Walter Reid Fund to help in the costs.
Please direct any questions or comments to Fr. Chris and the parish Finance Committee.

Funerals & Weekday Mass … after consulting with a number of regular daily Mass attendees, I have decided that when we have a funeral on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays & Saturdays, we will cancel the regular parish Mass that day. We will NOT cancel the Thursday evening Mass. I feel it is important that we support the families of our parish who have lost someone and to join them in praying for their deceased as much as we can. This will begin on October 27th. I know it will take some getting used to; but, to my knowledge, this is the practice of every other parish in our diocese and I believe once we get used to it, there will be a great spiritual benefit in our parish. We will do our best to announce upcoming funerals at Mass and you can also, of course, find funeral announcements in the newspapers and online through the funeral home websites. As always, please keep the families of our deceased parishioners in your prayers and continue to pray for the souls in purgatory.

Eucharistic Adoration on Fridays … will now end with Benediction at NOON beginning on Friday, October 24th.

Is God calling you to full communion in the Church? We will be starting preparation sessions for anyone who would like to enter full communion with the Church. Maybe you are already baptized but would like the Sacrament of Confirmation? Maybe you aren’t baptized but want to join the Church? Preparations will start soon so if you are interested, call the parish office and leave your name and phone number.
