Quotes from Pope Francis’ Encyclical “Laudato Si” – “Our Common Home” … The poor are hurt the most by climate change. There has been a tragic rise in the number of migrants seeking to flee from the growing poverty caused by environmental degradation. They are not recognized by international conventions as refugees; they bear the loss of the lives they have left behind, without enjoying any legal protection whatsoever. Sadly, there is widespread indifference to such suffering, which is even now taking place throughout our world.
Collection -Needs of the Church … September 27th ! The (CCCB) assists dioceses & their Bishops in areas of: faith formation, ecumenical dialogues, liturgy, relations with Indigenous Peoples, social justice, etc. In his letter, Archbishop Paul-André Durocher points out that this year’s collection is being held while a number of families from Canada are participating in the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia. Also, the General Synod of Bishops on the family will soon begin. “This twofold coincidence reminds us of the importance of families as part of the Church’s mission and as part of the work of the national conference and the regional assemblies … one more reason why all the faithful in our country will want to ensure the collection’s success by their generosity,” the CCCB President writes.
