Parish Meeting … the Next Ten Years Follow Up. On Saturday, February 6th at 9:45am (following the 9am Mass) we’ll be having a follow-up gathering to our November parish meeting. At this meeting, we’ll be asking you to give us your thoughts on what makes a parish healthy in five areas of parish life: worship, community, discipleship, service, and evangelization.

Lenten Parish Mission –February 22nd-24th … “ A Time of Mercy with Father Mark Cherry”. Join Fr. Mark Cherry and “All Things New” music ministry for this three-day mission in the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy. St. Peter writes in his epistle that, “according to His great mercy we have been born anew to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (1Pt. 1:3). We are living in a time when God has extended His great mercy to a world that has largely forgotten its need for His mercy. Turning to God for His mercy is the only hope for our world. We have this message of hope within us as followers of Jesus Christ. Monday – Why an Extraordinary Holy Year of Mercy? Tuesday – Receiving God’s great Mercy Wednesday – Sharing God’s Mercy Each evening at 7pm. On Monday & Wed, we will celebrate Holy Mass with talk given during the homily. On Tuesday, we begin with a time of Praise and Worship, followed by talk, then Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Catholic Family Services Collection … taking place at the Masses of February 6th & 7th. This money goes to support the many works of this organization. You’ll find pamphlets and envelopes for the collection in this week’s bulletin.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul Update … suggested food items-peanut butter, cheesewhiz, miracle whip, coffee, canned meats. Your continued support helped us give over 140 bags of groceries since the first of January. Thank you!

St. Paul’s Variety Concert … the committee thanks the performers, volunteers, & businesses (Callbeck’s, Furniture Gallery & Water Street Bakery) for their work/support of our concert fundraiser; the K of C who helped at the door & with 50/50 tickets; CWL & others who helped with fudge; Basil Haire who was a great M.C.; Tanya Bernard who looked after getting sound people & to all who came and enjoyed a wonderful evening & to those who were not able to attend but made donations! After expenses, $2,200 was raised for our parish. This amount is expected to increase somewhat as donations are still coming in.

Grade 2 … First Communion class … parents will meet Sunday, Jan. 24th, 11:30am. Please bring your child’s copy of their baptism certificate. All children must have proof of baptism in order to receive First Communion;
Grade 8 … group Mass 10:30am on Sunday, January 31st.

St. Paul’s Parish Variety Concert … to be held Sunday, January 24th, Centre Belle Alliance, (French School off South Drive) at 7 pm. Proceeds will go to St. Paul’s Parish for on-going programs/projects. Performers are local singers, dancers, musicians and acts. Cost $10/adults, $5 students, $25 max. cost for a family. Door prizes will be drawn, 50/50 tickets will be on sale ($2 each, 3 for $5 and 7 for $10). Fudge & bottled water will be sold . Invite friends and family to come out and support this parish fundraiser and enjoy an evening of great talent and fun!

St. Paul’s Youth Group … meets Wednesdays, 7pm – 9pm, 2nd level of Parish Centre. All youth, Grades 7 & up are welcome to attend. Come and see.

Prov. CWL Girls’ Bursary … post-secondary institutions. Girls do not have to be daughters of CWL members. Forms at St. Paul’s Parish office with deadline of January 31st.

Christmas Poinsettias … these are available to anyone wishing to bring some home … we have them in the library and so you may come in and help yourself.

Christian Refugee Relief Fund … the Knights of Columbus are selling Olive Wooden Crosses, made in Holy Land, $10 each. Monies used to support persecuted Christians in the Middle East. Available at St. Paul’s Gift Shop (church entrance) or from John Perry 436-4532.

Exhibition on the Mi’kmaq of PEI … at the Acadian Museum. Visit until May this exhibition “Ni’n na L’nu: The Mi’kmaq of PEI”. Wigwam-shaped modules, photos, audios and artifacts. Admission is free.

PEI Royal Canadian College of Organists Concert … at Trinity United Church, Summerside, February 21st, 3:00pm. Admission is by donation with 100% of the proceeds going to repair the Trinity’s pipe organ console.
