Ash Wednesday and Lenten Fasting … During Lent, Catholics are encouraged to engage in fasting and almsgiving & to increase their faithfulness to prayer. In this season two days stand out as particularly important days of fasting & abstinence: Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. On both of these days, it is the practice of the Church that Catholics who are 14& older abstain from meat &Catholics 18 – 59 fast by eating only one full meal during the day (you may also take two smaller meals which, if eaten together, would still be smaller than a normal meal). Obviously certain medical conditions may mean you cannot keep this fast but if at all possible, this practice is highly encouraged in honour of Our Lord’s passion & death to help us grow in self-restraint and fortitude against temptation.

Lenten Lunches … Once again we will be participating in the Lenten Lunch services. This year St. Paul’s will be hosting the service on Feb 27 at noon in the church. If you can help us with the lunch please see the sign up sheets in the main entrance.

The Marriage Preparation program … for St. Paul’s and surrounding parishes will be presented by Holy Family Ministries Wednesday evenings April 8th & 15th followed by an all day Saturday(lunch included) April 25 in the Main Hall at St. Paul’s Parish Center. Looking Good Inside and Out Convention for girls … a day-long convention for girls ages 10-16 (or 9 going on 10) to help them see themselves as beautiful on the inside and out, how to care for themselves and to see the beauty in others. The girls will receive age-appropriate talks about hair care, nail care, skin care, and of course inner beauty. Mix in some food, games, and friends and it promises to be a superb day! Moms are invited to come from 1-3pm for their own tracks as well! Saturday, Feb. 28th, 10am – 3pm at the Causeway Bay Linkletter Hotel, 311 Market St. Summerside. Cost is $15/girl or $30/family.
