Pope Francis, for the Year of Mercy … The temptation on the one hand, to focus exclusively on justice made us forget that this is only the first, albeit necessary and indispensable step. But the Church needs to go beyond and strive for a more important goal. On the other hand, sad to say, we must admit that the practice of mercy is waning in the wider culture. (MV#10)

Parish Meeting: The Next Ten Years … Follow Up NEW DATE. On Saturday, March 5th at 9:45am (following the 9am Mass) we’ll be having a follow-up gathering to our November parish meeting. At this meeting we’ll be asking you to give us your thoughts on what makes a parish healthy in five areas of parish life: worship, community, discipleship, service, and evangelization.

Lay Director Nomination … we will be electing a new member to the parish Board of Directors this year. To be nominated you must 1) be a registered member of the parish and, 2) receive signatures of support from ten registered members of the parish. Nomination forms are available at the back of the church and filled out nominations can be dropped off in the box in the Main Office and all nominations must be received before the office closes on March 3rd. The election, should an election be required, will not take place until April 16-17 due to Palm Sunday & Holy Week. If no election is required, the new director will be announced in the bulletin on the weekend of March 5th-6th.

Religious Education-
Grade 3 … tour of the Church has been rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 29th, 6:30pm … please meet in the Church with your child;

Grades 3 to 7 … reconciliation will be offered to these children with specified times … Sunday, Feb. 21st for Grades 5 & 7;
Sunday, Feb. 28th for Grades 3 & 4. Parents are encouraged to join their child in this wonderful sacrament of forgiveness.

Grade 8 … Confirmation class group Mass will be Sunday, Feb. 28th at 10:30am.

Lenten Parish Mission –February 22nd-24th … “ A Time of Mercy with Father Mark Cherry”. Fr. Mark Cherry is from Archdiocese of Halifax and “All Things New” music ministry team from Halifax as well. We are living in a time when God has extended His great mercy to a world that has largely forgotten its need for His mercy. Turning to God for His mercy is the only hope for our world. We have this message of hope within us as followers of Jesus Christ. Monday – Why an Extraordinary Holy Year of Mercy? Tuesday – Receiving God’s great Mercy Wednesday – Sharing God’s Mercy Each evening at 7pm. On Monday & Wed, we will celebrate Holy Mass with talk given during the homily. On Tuesday, we begin with a time of Praise and Worship, followed by talk, then Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Priests will be available to celebrate the sacrament of Reconciliation on Tuesday evening. Plan now to take this time aside for personal and parish renewal. Invite a friend to join you!

IMPORTANT: Weekday Masses and Funerals … beginning on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 10th, we will no longer be cancelling the daily Mass on days when a funeral is held.
