Why do we continue to sing the Lord have mercy in Latin … the “Kyrie eleison” and “Christe eleison” that we use near the beginning of Mass are actually Greek, not Latin. The only reason we use them is because the Canadian Bishops gave us only three musical settings to the Mass when the new translation came out and all three used the Greek texts. Since we don’t have a music minister on staff (and can’t yet afford one), our volunteer musicians have been relying on what they know and have sheet music for. Let’s pray that we will be able to hire someone for this important ministry.

Change for Those Taking Communion to the Homebound … currently, the practice for those mandated to bring communion is to come forward after everyone has received communion. Starting June 21st, we are asking those mandated to come forward before communion (along with those ministers assisting the priest to distribute communion during Mass). Please remember that you must be mandated by the Pastor before you can take communion to someone at home or in the hospital. Thank you for your cooperation in caring for the Eucharist and for our brothers and sisters who cannot make it to Mass.

Farewell Reception … Bishop Grecco has announced the appointment of Fr. Raj as the Pastoral Administrator of St. Augustine, Rustico; St. Anne’s, Hope River; and Stella Maris, North Rustico effective June 25, 2015. Please join us Monday, June 22nd for a farewell mass at 7 pm followed by a reception in the Parish Center main hall for our beloved Associate Pastor, Fr. Raj. Please consider taking something for the food sharing table.
