Knights of Columbus … meets on the third Thursday of month at 8 pm in K of C Room, 2nd Floor, Parish Centre.

Pope Francis’ Encyclical … “Concern for nature is incompatible with abortion and human experimentation”. There is a tendency to justify transgressing all boundaries when experimentation is carried out on living human embryos. We forget that the inalienable worth of a human being transcends his/her degree of development. When technology disregards the great ethical principles, it ends up considering any practice whatsoever as licit. (120,136)

Fund Raising Committee … we’ve been talking about the challenges our parish faces pastorally/financially. To answer the financial challenges, we’ve decided to create a fundraising committee with the following mandate: 1) set fundraising goals in conjunction with the financecommittee; 2) plan/execute fundraising efforts. The frequency of meetings will be determined by the members. If you can be a part of this, contact the office, leave your name/contact info and someone will contact you to set up the 1st meeting.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul News … a number of nativity scenes, etc are available in various sizes, from 6’ x 4’ to apartment size. Revenue, after the cost of materials, will go to St. Vincent de Paul. Info at 902-436-5489.

Religious Education …
More parents need to get involved in teaching, especially Grades 1, 5 and 7. We are making progress with this important ministry.
Grade 1 still needing parents to cover Unit 5 (Jan31-Feb21) and Unit 6 (Feb28-April3);
Grade 5 the following units are still open. Units 4 & 5 (Jan.3-Feb.21).
Grade 7 requires parents to teach the first Unit (Jan.3-Feb.7).
Look at your talents. God uses us in ways we sometimes think we are not capable … with God we can do anything! “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 3:10)
Grade 2 Students will receive First Reconciliation, Sunday, Dec. 6th during Catechism (11:30-12:30). All children not attending Sunday catechism are asked to attend as part of their formation towards First Communion;
Confirmation Class … the NET Team will have a retreat for this class, Tuesday, Dec. 1st, 4:30-9:00pm. Two families are required to host the members of NET after the retreat. They will stay overnight, be provided a breakfast and bagged lunch. All youth are invited to be a part of this team of young adults , on fire for Christ. It will prove to be an evening you will be glad to have taken part in; Grade 4 students will receive their Bible, provided by the Parish, at the 10:30am Mass, Sunday Dec.6th .

Advent Reconciliation Service … Monday, Dec. 14th, 7:00pm with a number of priests for individual confession.

Info Needed re 2016 Donation Envelopes … have you changed address in the last year (and have not already notified us) or do you wish to have donation envelopes for 2016? Call the office as we are soon labelling for 2016.

St. Paul’s Catholic Women’s League News … Christmas Lottery & Bake Sale – Sat., December 5th, County Fair Mall. Members are asked to give $5 for the money tree: bring to meeting or give to any CWL member.

Christmas Adopt a Family … Society of St. Vincent de Paul will be making a monetary donation to the Annual Kin Family Christmas Appeal in lieu of adopting families. Parishioners, who would like to adopt families, by purchasing gifts, can call Sue (Kin Family Appeal Co-Chair) at 303-0135. Those wishing to make a monetary donation can do so by giving to St. Vincent de Paul indicating “Christmas Fund” ,ensuring you will receive a tax receipt. All monetary donations received for this needy cause will be officially presented at the Kin Family Christmas Appeal, East Link TV on December 7th.

St. Paul’s Youth Group … meets Wednesdays, 7pm – 9pm, 2nd level of Parish Centre. All youth, Grades 7 & up are welcome to attend. Come and see.

Prov. CWL Girls’ Bursary … post-secondary institutions. Girls do not have to be daughters of CWL members. Forms at St. Paul’s Parish office with deadline of January 31st.

Annual Children’s Christmas Pageant … December 13th, St. John the Baptist Parish, Miscouche beginning with Christmas Hymns at 6:30pm followed by the pageant.

St. Simon & St. Jude Night of Sacred Music … Monday, December 14th, 6:00pm with all the choirs of the Parish and live Nativity. All are welcome.

Religious Articles Store News … 2016 Catholic Missions Calendars and Christmas cards are available… located in the Church entrance. Along with the regular hours, the store will open December 5, 12 & 19th after the 7:00pm Mass.
