Liturgical Ministry

Altar Servers – Weekend

Serving at the altar is a great way for children in grades 4 – 12 to engage with the Mass, learn more about the faith, work on a team with others their own age, and serve the parish community. We are always looking to add more people to our team. Please contact the pastor for more information.

Altar Servers – Funerals

Our funeral Mass altar servers add a great deal of solemnity to our services and help make the service run smoothly at a time when families are mourning the loss of a loved one. Since funerals can happen at various times of day and often with very little notice, it is important that we have a large roster of ministers we can call on who are generally available during the day. If you are interested in joining this ministry, please contact the pastor.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

During the Mass we believe that the ordinary bread and wine presented by the congregation is transformed by God, through the ministry of the priest, into Christ himself: body and blood, humanity and divinity. Following Christ’s words in John 6, during the Mass we eat the Bread of Life. Our volunteer Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion help with the distribution of this most precious gift to the Church. If you would like to volunteer for this ministry, please talk to the pastor.

Lectors

The Sacred Scriptures are an immensely important part of our Eucharistic celebrations. All of our prayers, dialogues, and even many of our actions during the Mass are inspired by the Scriptures. Besides this, the proclamation of the Scriptures is one of the highlights of our celebrations. With this in mind, it’s important that we have a good number of volunteers to proclaim the word during the Mass. If you would like to volunteer for this ministry, please contact the pastor.

Music Ministry

Music is an important part of our Eucharistic celebrations. It has the power to set the mood and to lift the soul to heaven. We are always looking for help with our music program. If you are interested in volunteering for this ministry, please contact the pastor.

Music Ministry Help

Looking for help picking music for Mass? Try this website: http://www.npm.org/Planning/index.html. It’s a great place to find hymns that fit with the liturgy of the day. It includes suggestions for many popular hymnals including the Catholic Book of Worship III used here and in most English speaking parishes in Canada.
